Artist’s Statement
I have always had a deep love of the unique environment of South Louisiana. Interest and beauty can often be found in places that get overlooked in daily routines.
As a lifelong resident of South Louisiana, I find endless inspiration in the quiet beauty of the region’s natural landscapes—its winding roads, live oaks, and filtered light. My work often begins with photography; from there, I interpret these images into watercolor to create a sense of place and mood.
My style is impressionistic but leans toward realism. By adding a layer of personal interpretation. I aim to reflect not only what a place looks like, but also my own feelings and impressions — capturing places that are rooted, alive, and changing with the seasons. Each painting is both a record of a place and a study of stillness and observation.
Through this process, I hope to preserve and share the beauty of Louisiana’s landscapes, inviting viewers to slow down and reconnect with the places that surround them. Or simply to notice the often unseen beauty that can be right in front of us.
